Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?

After booking with us, we'll send you a waiver to fill out and a post-booking questionnaire. We use this to curate a tour personalized to your goals and skill level. Our guides reach out before your day to give you a specific meeting location and any other information you need!

Does BBG rent crash pads?

We allow one free use of our pads after a tour with us! Pads alone aren't going to keep you safe. Proper placement of pads, route reading and spotting all ensure safety - not just having the foam. So we let our clients use our pads after they've had a day out with our guides, learning safe practices.

What do I need to bring?

Climbing shoes, water, snacks, a completed waiver and weather appropriate clothes are just about all you need when you climb with us. Our guides will reach out before your session to let you know if there's anything specific you'll want to have for your tour.

Am I good enough to climb outside?

Absolutely! There are thousands of boulder problems available in the areas we guide, hundreds of which are suitable for complete beginners.  BBG is dedicated to providing a safe environment for new climbers to experience the joys of rock.

What gear do we have?

Pads, pads, pads. We also have telescope ladders, fans, chalk and stick-brushes for maximum support on your project. We also carry finger blocks and resistance bands for effective warmups.

What training do our guides have?

A cumulative 25+ years of climbing experience, all of our guides live and breathe climbing. From wildland firefighter to national park ranger, we come from risk management backgrounds and all have experience keeping people safe outside.

Does BBG guide kids?

You bet! Minors will need a waiver filled out by a parent or legal guardian and kids  13 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult.

When and where are tours offered?

Our Bishop season starts in the fall and runs until spring, typically with a break in the coldest part of winter. Tahoe operates in the summer months. Specific dates depend on weather but are kept up to date on our booking calendar

Terminology

Bouldering-

A type of free climbing on large boulders, omitting the  traditional rope and harness and opting instead for padded landings. Bouldering in it's nature is all about precision and power and requires a creative mind to solve it's "problems".
